"Trollies in Co-operative Food stores are set to feature a bolted-on tablet, which will provide customers with the opportunity to share their views on the shopping experience.
Available in selected stores, the trollies will ask questions about the store layout, the ranges carried and products stocked, all activated when a customer arrives in the section, for example, in the bakery or in the beer aisle.
“If we are to fulfil our ambition to be the UK’s best local food retailer it is really important that we know what our members think about our stores and act upon their feedback,” explained Andrew Mann, customer director at The Co-operative Food.
“The high tech trollies not only make it easy for customers to tell us about their shopping experience but because the information is collated digitally we can access what they say almost instantly.”
Feedback on a series of societal issues such as sustainable food, youth unemployment and localism will also be sought using the tablet.
“Our new stated purpose emphasises the importance we place on communities and so this feedback will also enable us to find out what our members and customers think about our community engagement,” Mann added.
Shoppers who do not have the high tech in store, or do not have time to answer the questions while shopping, will be able to answer the questions on the Co-op’s website."
